To celebrate the end of a Wonderful 2013 and welcome in a Fabulous 2014, I am please to offer a giveaway from one of my favorite pattern designers.  The new collection is call Romantique from Voie de Vie Designs.  This collection is comprised of gorgeous textures found only in crochet that delve into the romantic while still keep the blend of casual a person like me desires.  The jewel tones of the yarns used for the patterns also lend to the beauty of each design.

Denise, the wonderful pattern designer, and fellow Fiber Arts Friday blog friend has created yet another collection taking crochet to a level of sophistication and beauty that I've never seen.  I come from a family who crochets and all I ever saw growing up were afghans, hand towels and ornaments.  Ok, maybe a few other items but, for the most part, just your "typical" crochet that never motivated me to pick up a hook.

Part of the wonder in Denise's patterns isn't just the pattern itself, it's the pairing of the perfect yarn to create the finished good.  Denise does a wonderful job of using different fibers and blends for both the cost conscious and "yarn snobs" like myself.  I love that her patterns, look fabulous with handspun yarn too.

Denise asked that I share my favorite pattern from her collection and also how I would wear it.  All of us have different body types and clothing styles so stepping outside of the comfort zone box for many when picking a pattern to make, can be daunting.  Not only the money you spend on the yarn but also the time it takes to create the product.  Will it be worth it?  I have to say, that being the owner of a couple of Denise's designs that...yes, it's worth it.

Since I don't have any of these products in my greedy little hands, I'm going to use a couple of photos from her existing patterns.  The styles and colors a a bit different but how I would wear the design is totally the same.  I'm very much a casual person.  If I could wear jeans and a t-shirt every day, I would.  Of course, most of my t-shirts represent my favorite nerdy loves (i.e., all of the Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings shirts) but I can't wear those to work so I wear a lot of solid or semi-solid short or long sleeve shirts with dress slacks and on the weekends I wear jeans.  Where I work, I'm allowed to dress business casual and I don't want to spend a lot on my wardrobe.  I have basic dress slacks in brown, black, gray and tan and tons of plain shirts that I buy at Target.  I get away with the shirts because I'm always wearing a shawl or cowl or cardigan.  The accessories...and the knit/crochet items make the outfit.

I am partial to the shawls she has in her collection especially the Forged Joy Shawl.  The beauty of this shawl especially when paired with a rich jewel toned yarn, like she chose for her model design, is just stunning.  I can see wearing this at the office, out to a party or even on a casual day out.  I love that the design allows for a width that lets you wrap yourself up in the shawl so you have plenty of room for it to be a comfy wrap without it hindering your movement and to be worn as a shawl with plenty of length that you don't have to tie it or use a shawl pin.  I must say, that is one of my favorite parts about Denise's design.  They are meant to wear and enjoy being worn.  The Le Bateau Shawl is one of my favorite shawls and I wear it at least once a week.  Moving around at work isn't a bother because of the length and worn as a cowl it's stunning.  I can totally see the Forged Joy Shawl being the same way.

Denise's patterns inspire me to take new steps in learning how to crochet.  Her patterns are truly amazing. So, now that I've gushed about the designer, you should check out her collection.  Visit her Ravelry store and see the new patterns along with her existing patterns.  If you want to enter to win her pattern collection, all you have to do is leave a comment here on my blog telling me what your favorite pattern is along with your Ravelry screen name plus become a member of Denise's Voie de Vie Ravelry Group.  Denise will award the winner her pattern collection via Ravelry.  I will post the winner on this week's Fiber Arts Friday so take a look at her collection and discover the wonderful world of the Romantique Collection.

  4. Oh my gosh, the Forged Joy Shawl is amazing! Maybe picking up the crochet hook rather than the knitting needles is a good way to start the New Year? ;)
